Since the COVID-19 start...

In the year of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic greatly affected the psychological well-being of people. This is because, due to the pandemic, a lot of uncertainty developed among the people in the society as they were afraid of the pandemic and they felt helpless. Due to the lockdown, they did not have a routine and there was lack of social engagement as well. This pandemic caused bereavement, feelings of isolation, loss of income and even the fear of getting the virus and that in turn triggered their mental health conditions. And there were people who even faced the increased levels of alcohol and drug use, insomnia, and anxiety. Throughout all of this, I wanted to know and spend more time to learn about how other countries outside of the US handled this global pandemic.

South Korea's response to the world's global pandemic has gained global recognition. At the beginning of the pandemic, South Korea was the country that had the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases outside China in February to single-digit increases in new cases by mid-April. However, South Korea was the first country that was able to flatten the COVID-19 curve. As a student who came from South Korea I was able to experience how both the U.S and South Korea handled this global pandemic. I learned that there are a lot of difference between how these two countries reacted to this global pandemic. I want to share what I have learned and experienced through this website.

The questions that I want to answer and talk about in this website are:

  • discrimination against minority groups, since the beginning of the COVID-19.

  • How the South Korea government successfully reacted to and managed the COVID-19

  • How people in the U.S and South Korea think of their government's COVID-19 response (I am going to interview my friend who is currently in the South Korea and U.S)
